WHO THE HECK IS LANCE TRUSCOTT MORRISON? (...and why should I buy his CD?...you know, the one on sale in the Contact Us tab...)

That's a tough one! Lance is a life-long musician who plays all of the instruments you hear on his music. (That would include vocals, guitars, bass, piano, drums, trumpet, flugelhorn, valve trombone, and mandolin). As a very young man he knew that eating meat was not for him. One night he announced this to surprised parents, and he never looked back, Years of dealing with being a square peg on a round plate taught him that there was much to say about this lifestyle. Ever since he drummed out beats on the family carpet with kitchen spoons as a kid, he has been putting music together. *PASTURE PRIME is the culmination of Lance's lifelong desire to make music, coupled with his musings about life as a vegetarian. People have compared his music to Weird Al Yankovich (something he tries hard to smile upon hearing). For him, it is simply a melodic look at life and living.

          "I am always open to new ideas politically, spiritually and socially, but the one thing I am, and always will be, is a vegetarian."

No one was surprised when Lance evolved into a long-haired, bearded musician who travelled from gig-to-gig in his split window VW bus (with a cactus growing in the ash tray!).  At some point , however, he had to decide whether or not he would be a full-time player, or someone who got to eat every day. He chose the latter. Perhaps the most unlikely occupation for him became a new passion: policework. While he had to sacrifice the music, he learned that there was a lot to be said or helping people. Before it was all over with he retired as a  Police Captain. In fact, he currently works as a full-time Deputy Sheriff. He has a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies from St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. Most importantly, he still drives a 1965 VW bus--and yes, it has a cactus in the ash tray!

During his law enforcement career, Lance actually found ways to integrate music into the police service. He wrote seven songs that were offered as part of a 12 track CD related to traffic safety. Those songs have been distributed country-wide. Lance was also the leader of YOWZA, a municipal city band in Newark, CA for many years. This group consists of the city's Mayor, City Attorney, City Councilman, several employees, as well as former employees. YOWZA became a way for the city staff to honor the community and raise money for non-profit organizations by playing at their events. Lance has played in several bands throughout his life, including TOP 40, blues, and Latin groups.  Most of all, he simply loves to write and play music. PASTURE PRIME represents his passion for song writing, coupled with an intense affection for all animals.

Lance has truely 'hand-made' 18 songs for you--people who share his passion for not eating meat , nor exploiting or killing animals. Lance uses humor, music and narrative to drive home the message that animals might have some thoughts about what we call dinner. Yep...he writes a good deal of his music from the perspective of the animals, i.e. in 'Kitty Litter' (all copyright restrictions apply) he writes through the mind's eye of a household cat. In this case the cat has developed a bit of paranoia after realizing that, since chicken is on the table, might he be next?!
